Best BBQ Grills: 5 Easy Tips Anyone Can Use to Keep Your Gas Grill Like New and Running Hot
Best BBQ Grill Tips
Your gas grill is more than just an investment — it’s a big part to your outdoor family fun. Keeping it running hot will not only save you money — but also make your grilling experiences, family outings and friendly cookouts much more enjoyable and less hassle. Because the less time you have to spend worrying about your grill, the more time you will have to spend with your family and friends.
Here are 5 easy tips for keeping your grill in peak condition:
1. Always clean the burners before the first grilling of the season and then as needed throughout the year. To clean the burners — remove the burner completely and use a wire brush to clean the exterior of the burner. This will remove any excessive leftover residue and any loose rust. Then clean out any clogged up gas holes with a paper clip. Check you venturi tubes for possible blockages by insects and clean with a venturi brush or bent coat hanger.
2. Clean grates are a must for good grilling. Clean the cooking grids easily by covering them with a layer of aluminum foil and running the grill on high for 10 to 15 minutes. The baked-on food will burn to a fine white powder which can be easily brushed away.
3. Change out your lava rocks when they get saturated with barbeque drippings and grease or at least once a season. Better still switch to ceramic or porcelain briquettes which are less porous and can be easily cleaned by turning them over and heating them to burn off the food and grease.
4. Rub a light coating of vegetable oil on the outside of you grill (when it is cool) with a paper towel to protect it from the weather.
5. Remove the BBQ and other drippings from your gas supply hose with a mixture of ammonia and water. This will discourage squirrels, and other critters, from chewing and damaging the gas supply hose from your tank
